Apartment Development Central Cambridge

An interesting and prominent site in central Cambridge, owned by my client of many years and his family for some considerable time.

Having tabled various options to develop the site over several years the planning system was eventually persuaded to support the scheme shown in the images depicted here.

An additional storey over an existing adjacent apartment block was resisted along with anything in line with schemes accepted for similar sites in the immediate area and around the city. At the time of writing, permission has been granted to retain eight refurbished apartments and we understand that a recommendation has been made to grant permission for the construction of four new-build apartments replacing six dilapidated garages on the site.

Art Deco styled building on three floors designed to reflect the architectural style of the existing post-war building on the site containing eight apartments.

Designed to be carbon zero to the highest of modern standards providing two single-bedroomed apartments a larger two-bedroomed unit and a penthouse duplex with roof terrace.

This story is all too familiar in the modern planning system with very simple projects taking a considerable time to reach a successful conclusion.
